The Meditation Sourcebook: Meditation for Mortals, Holly C. Sumner, Ph.D.

Dr. Kevin Hogan is one of the people I most respect and like in this world. He also happens to be one of the best writers I know. I can recommend ANY book this man has written (or will write for that matter - he's that good!)

The Psychology of Persuasion

The Mists of Avalon, Marion Zimmer Bradley.

This is probably my all time favorite fiction book and I've read it countless times! I'll probably read it a dozen more times too...

The Clan of the Cave Bear, Jean Auel.

I loved this book best of all of the ones in the Earth Children series. Just re-read it again last week. I am no so patiently waiting the 5th book in the series. I sure hope she is still working on it!

Essential Reiki, Diane Stein.

This is a controversial book on Reiki. Why controversial? Because it has long been held that Reiki's symbols are "secret" and not to be published - and then Diane Stein went and published them. Personally, I feel they are sacred - rather than secret. (there is some indication that the two words may have been mixed up). I recommend this book to all my students.

Have some computer folks on your list and not sure what to get them? Well, this book tells how to use MS Access 97. AND, it was written by a very good friend of mine, Susan Harkins. She's on my discussion group, The Psychic Discussion Group (listserve). So... might I suggest that you buy a copy for that computer geek... whoops... computer aficionado on your list?!!

The 1999 SunSign Book by Llewellyn. This is a handy little book, and best of all it mentions this site as one of the best sites on the Internet. So, it's gotta be a good book, right? (**grin**)

It has all kinds of information in it, and articles on various subjects.

How about some music?
One of my absolute favorite music artists is Loreena McKennitt. Why not turn on your friends to her music?

The Book of Secrets.

If you have never heard Loreena's music, you just have no idea of what you are missing! I listen to something by her everyday, I like her that much!

Elemental.

An earlier work by Loreena. She has her own sound really. I've heard her compared to Enya, and though I can hear why, Loreena does have her own style.

The Mask and Mirror.

Ah... another one of my favorites. Have had some great meditations while listening to her. Also, we've used her music at many of our retreats for atmosphere. Great for meditational dancing.

How about movies? Amazon has really great prices, you can get them for way less than I've seen in stores.

Armageddon

Of all the movies that were released this year, this is my favorite. I went as far as to see it twice in the theaters, and of course I already own the video. Can't help it, but I cry each time I see it. Bruce Willis is very good in this. Have to admit I've not been a huge Willis fan, didn't think one way or the other about him. But, he was excellent in this. Of course the media has gone gaga over Ben Afleck and Liz Tyler's performances. They were great. My favorite in the film was William Fichtner, who played the shuttle pilot, Willie Sharp. (he was also in Contact)

The Creator

This movie has Peter O'Toole and Mariel Hemmingway. A delightful romp!

Communicating With Animals: The Spiritual Connection Between People and Nature,Arthur Myers.

Art is a very interesting fellow - I've known him for awhile. He's always got great stories about many topics - and this is his latest book. Worth reading! Art's book was very popular for a Christmas gift last year - some people bought several copies. Still a great idea for this year, or for other gift times - birthdays, anniversaries, etc.!

The 1999 Daily Planetary Guide, Cynthia Ahlquist, editor.

I can't live without this item! From Llewellyn, it's spiral bound, so that it lays flat. I use it to keep track of my life, as well as all my appointments. It has all kinds of information packed in it! This item can usually be shipped within two to three days, and best of all it's only about $8!

I took the course, but still find this book to be a great resource. The first few chapters are a bit "hype-y" - but the entire course is really in here. A must buy in my opinion.
